Guide to AI Connector Data Processing

What materials do you process?
When users request deck generation in AI conversations such as Claude· ChatGPT, the AI service and Quiz Notebook connector server process the deck title, questions, correct answers, incorrect answers, commentary, and tags. The server receives the original text at the processing moment, checks the format, and compresses and encrypts it. Plaintext cards and decryption keys are not stored in the server storage. This is not a function that automatically sends the entire personal deck to AI.
1-hour link and temporary storage
Small decks are delivered via links containing content and are not stored in connector storage. Large decks temporarily store the ciphertext, expiration time, and deletion confirmation values in the Netlify(US) repository. The decryption key is included in the personal link. The server blocks access starting one hour after the link is created. When the web app completes device saving, it requests deletion of the server copy, and if it fails, a retry button is displayed.
Unsaved expired materials are deleted by a cleanup task set to run every minute. There may be a short deletion delay between normal executions, and even longer during hosting failures. If the cleanup success record is not updated for more than 2 minutes, the new archive is stopped. The 1-hour link validity time and the physical deletion time of the repository are distinguished.
Personal links and AI records
The person with the link can open the deck within the validity period, so do not pass it on to others. Links and materials used for creation may remain in the AI service's chat history and are subject to the service policy. Deleting the archive does not delete AI chat history, browser history, or copies already received. Small deck links include the deck content itself and do not have a one-hour expiration date.
Preview and save on your device
Web apps delete links from the address bar after reading the link and decrypt them on the device. Deletion of previously generated visit history or tab sync is not guaranteed. To restore refresh, temporarily save the library link and expiration date in sessionStorage of the same tab. This value is cleared when saving, canceling, or expiring, and the browser's session recovery policy applies separately. When opening in another browser, please reuse the original AI conversation link.
The first five questions are shown in advance and the user must confirm before the entire deck is saved to the device. Auto-sync of the imported deck is turned off. Paste input and file import are handled by the device and do not send these inputs to the connector server.

Data processed
When you request a deck in an AI conversation, the AI provider and Quiz Notebook connector process its title, questions, answers, distractors, explanations and tags. The connector receives plaintext temporarily to validate, compress and encrypt it. It does not persist plaintext cards or decryption keys in its storage. It does not automatically send your existing personal decks to an AI provider.
Temporary encrypted transfer
Small decks are delivered inside import links without connector storage. Larger decks use temporary Netlify storage in the United States for ciphertext, expiry time and a deletion verification value. The key is included in the private link. Access is refused one hour after link creation. After saving locally, the web app requests deletion of the server copy and offers a retry if deletion fails.
A cleanup job configured to run every minute removes unread expired records. Physical deletion can lag behind expiry between runs and can be delayed further during hosting outages. New deposits stop when no successful cleanup has been recorded for more than two minutes. Link expiry and physical deletion are distinct.
Links and conversation history
Anyone with a valid link can open the deck. Treat it as private. Links and source material may remain in the AI provider's conversation history under its policies. Deleting a vault copy does not delete conversations, browser history or downloaded copies. Small inline import links contain the deck itself and do not expire after one hour.
Browser storage and confirmation
The web app removes the fragment from the address bar and decrypts locally, but cannot guarantee removal from earlier browser history or tab sync. To recover a refresh in the same tab, sessionStorage temporarily holds the vault link and a deadline. This is cleared on save, cancel or expiry; browser session restoration policies still apply. To switch browsers, reopen the original link from the AI conversation.
The first five cards are previewed. The complete deck is saved locally only after your confirmation, with automatic sync off. Pasted content and imported files are processed locally and are not sent to the connector.
