Privacy notice — Quiz Notebook Desktop for Mac and Windows

Effective September 20, 2026. Operator: YSEEDU (와이에스이에듀). This notice covers local materials, optional external features, email accounts and additional-deck purchases in Quiz Notebook Desktop for Mac and Windows. For these desktop apps it takes precedence over the website's general account and payment descriptions. Wrongnote Maker is a separate product.

Data and purposes

Your questions, notes, PDFs and photos are not sent to the account server for login or purchase verification. Core study materials stay on your device; separate sharing or external services you choose have their own notices. Core study features do not require an additional-deck account. We process the email you enter, random account identifiers, signup dates, hashed authentication credentials and verification/expiry dates for email sign-in and purchase linking. The email account service is shared with Wrongnote Maker, but product entitlements are separate.

For Apple deck purchases we retain transaction and original transaction IDs, product IDs, random app account tokens, production/sandbox environment, validity/revocation status and verification times. We do not receive card numbers, Apple passwords or Apple account email addresses from Apple. This Mac purchase path does not use RevenueCat. IP addresses and hashed request counters are used to limit abuse, not for advertising or location inference. Authentication links and request bodies are excluded from service error logs. The local session uses operating-system encryption.

For Microsoft deck purchases we retain transaction/item IDs, store and deck product IDs, validity/revocation status, modification/expiry/verification times and service-account links. We send an account-derived pseudonymous identifier and the Microsoft Store-issued purchase-query key to Microsoft to verify ownership. The key is encrypted on our server and used for revalidation. Temporary purchase/restore request identifiers and processing status are also recorded. Access is based on Microsoft verification. We do not receive Microsoft account passwords, payment card numbers or Microsoft account email addresses; you enter your service-login email yourself. This Windows purchase path does not use RevenueCat.

Optional external features

AI drafting runs only after you configure your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key and review the text to send. The app sends that text, API authentication and model settings directly to the selected provider over HTTPS, not through the YSEEDU account server. Keys are encrypted on this device. Your provider may charge your API account. The app does not automatically read or upload whole PDFs, photos or other apps. AI replies are suggestions, not completed actions. AI is optional; you may avoid requests or remove your key.

OpenAI requests disable response storage for later retrieval; this does not guarantee zero retention. Default abuse-monitoring retention is up to 30 days, with legal/safety exceptions and model, cache and account conditions. See OpenAI data controls. Anthropic normally deletes API inputs/outputs within 30 days, subject to contractual, legal and usage-policy exceptions. See Anthropic API retention. Review the selected provider's international processing and retention terms; do not include sensitive personal data.

If you open a local-network exam room and admit participants, selected questions, participant responses and results are processed between those devices. Optional personal-folder linking writes study-record files to the location you select; a cloud-synced location uses that provider's upload and retention settings. These features do not publicly publish your materials. Audio downloads send requested file addresses and necessary network data to the content host. Support and deck-request messages are reviewed and sent through your mail app; the information you send is used to reply.

Optional personal synchronization

Automatic synchronization is off by default. Before enabling it, you review and confirm what will be sent. Selected cards, your edits and images, study positions, random account identifiers and revision identifiers are stored encrypted in a separate Azure database in South Korea and transferred between devices signed into the same account. Whole original PDFs are not uploaded automatically. Official paid-deck content and store purchase rights are not stored in this personal-data database.

Turning sync off stops new transfers; previously stored server data remains until account deletion. Deletions are not automatically propagated between devices. Concurrent edits are preserved for your selection instead of silently overwriting them. Account deletion removes synchronized materials from active storage and registered recovery backups within seven days. Learning material is excluded from the 90-day anti-abuse hash retention.

Retention and deletion

Account and purchase links remain until account deletion. Email links last 15 minutes; their temporary records are cleaned after a further 24 hours. Sessions last up to 30 days and expired sessions and rate-limit records are cleaned automatically. In the app choose Additional decks → signed-in account → Delete account. This removes the shared Quiz Notebook / Wrongnote account, sessions, server-side purchase links and synchronized learning materials for that email, affecting other devices and restoration. It does not erase local learning files, refund purchases or cancel store subscriptions.

Minimal anti-abuse deletion hashes and dates are removed within a maximum of 90 days. They contain no plaintext email or learning materials. Registered recovery backups we manage expire within a maximum of 7 days and are not used for normal service queries. Transaction records retained by Apple and Microsoft are governed by the respective store provider's policy.

Providers and rights

Microsoft Azure hosts account data and explicitly enabled synchronization materials in Korea Central, South Korea, under the periods above. Resend, Inc. processes recipient email, the login message/link and delivery metadata in the United States via encrypted HTTPS when you request email sign-in. Published standard retention is 30 days for email/logs plus up to 7 additional days for provider backups; contact privacy@resend.com or our support for deletion assistance. If you do not want this transfer, do not use email login or delete the account; account-dependent deck purchase features will be unavailable. Apple processes checkout, restoration and transaction verification under its own policy. Microsoft Store processes Windows checkout, restoration and ownership verification. Our server sends a pseudonymous identifier, purchase-query key and app/product identifiers to Microsoft over HTTPS. International processing and retention follow Microsoft’s privacy policy. App licenses, additional-deck rights and Wrongnote Maker access are separate. We do not sell personal data or provide it for advertising.

Contact support@quiznotebook.com for access, correction, deletion, restrictions and transfer questions. We request only minimum identity verification, never passwords or card numbers. Changes and effective dates are published here with additional notice or consent where required.
