Surface Pro: Write directly to your Windows PC screen

Surface Prois a two-in-one PC that runs Windows directly. Unlike Wacom One or Movink, which connects a screen to a separate computer, the Surface Pro can handle note-taking apps and document work directly on its own. Currently, Microsoft is offering 12-inch and 13-inch products.

With the Surface Slim Pen compatible with screen touch, you can write notes, drawings, and PDF annotations. Slim pen and detachable keyboard sold separatelyTherefore, make sure it is included in the model and configuration you plan to purchase.

  1. Check the model and app. Currently, the Surface Pro's Snapdragon configuration is based on Windows on Arm. Regular Windows apps can run as emulations, but you must check the installation and operation of the Quiz Notebook Windows version and the note-taking app directly on the respective model.
  2. Check for compatible pens. After checking the Surface pen and charging method that fits your model, test fine print, eraser, page navigation, and file saving.
  3. Check the class screen. Share the handwriting app window to use and check if the handwriting is read on the student-side screen. Test the camera and microphone separately according to the actual class structure.

This does not mean that the Surface Pro is an officially certified Quiz Notebook device or that pen functionality has been verified on all models.

Wacom One 14 and Movink 13: Writing directly on the computer screen

Both products connect to a computer or other device and use a pen while looking at the screen. LCD TabletIt is. This is not a tablet that runs the app independently. It is not a dedicated device linked to Quiz Notebook, but rather an external device that can review apps for handwriting and PDF annotation on a computer.

Criteria for choosing two LCD tablets
ProductsFeaturesUses to consider first
Wacom One 1414-inch FHD IPS, 750g, no charging pen, no multi-touch fingerWhen starting to take notes or proofread PDFs at your desk
Wacom Movink 1313.3-inch FHD OLED, 420g, Pro Pen 3, Finger Multi-TouchWhen you often carry it around or need to express touch and color

If your main purpose is note-taking and annotating class materials, starting with the Wacom One 14 is worth considering. The strengths of the Movink 13 lie in portability and touch, screen, and pen specifications. For both products, you need to check the computer you want to connect and the software you will use.

  1. Check your computer port. To connect with a single cable, you need a USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt port capable of video output. You can't tell just by the shape of the USB-C port. If the port doesn't match, check Wacom's separate converter conditions.
  2. Open the note-taking app. You write small print in the hand-taking and PDF annotation apps you usually use on your computer to test pen position, eraser, page movement, and saving.
  3. If needed, share that app window. Screen sharing and Quiz Notebook material storage are different tasks. Check the storage location and sharing scope in the app you are using.

Android is not officially supported on the Wacom One 14 list. While Movink 13 is also supported by Android, you need to separately check video output, power, and pen operation for each app on the connected device. This does not mean that the pen function has been verified across all Quiz Notebook products and device combinations.

  3. Move the note-taking app window to your iPad or mirror your Mac screen and write with Apple Pencil.
  4. Select the app window to share on your Mac. Screen streaming and document saving are separate tasks.

The Apple Pencil is written on the iPad, and input is sent to the Mac app. It does not mean you write directly by holding the Pencil directly onto the Mac display. This is different from sending the iPad's own Goodnotes screen to the Mac. Apple's Sidecar Guide & Compatibility List

Use case: Mac Goodnotes + Slate

After running Goodnotes on Mac and passing the Apple Pencil input on iPad to Slate, Share the Goodnotes window on Mac with the classThis is the setup. This is a method worth considering for users who want to manage both handwriting and classes on a laptop screen.

Goodnotes states that you can write on a Mac using a drawing tablet and mouse/trackpad, but it notes that the response may be slower than writing directly on an iPad. We have not yet conducted practical pressure and delay tests on this combination of Goodnotes and Slate. Write a line with the pen tool, then first check eraser, page movement, and save. Check Goodnotes' OS requirements separately from Slate, and check document sync and storage ranges in Goodnotes' settings.

The handwriting input box for Slate and the pen action in Goodnotes are different. Window sharing integration into the Quiz Notebook student area is under development and testing.

Quiz notebook linkage status: This guide explains how to connect external devices and suggestions for class structure. A feature to display the handwriting screen in the quiz notebook student area and share it without a camera is currently under development and testing. This does not mean that all combinations work in the current distribution. The video below is also an explanation of the connection method, not an actual device demonstration.

When recording, first determine the scope of sharing.

Inform participants of the recording target and storage location, and obtain the necessary consents. Select the shared window to avoid showing student materials, notifications, or other windows, then play the exam recording file to review. Shared videos shown in the quiz notebook are not automatically included in Zoom recordings.
